How much does it cost to get an estimate?

When can I start my fence or deck?
Fences and Decks can be built year round; even in the winter.

Are building permits required?
You should always check with your local building office to determine what permits are required for your particular project. In London, a deck permit is required if the deck is more than 2 ft. off grade. Generally a fence does not need a permit unless it is for a pool.

What should I do prior to starting my fence?
You should start by staking out your property lines. If you are not able to and have a site survey, we can often assist you in determining the property lines.
Make sure the area where the fence or deck is going is clear of objects, debris etc.
Forans Fence will have the locates completed for your project and the locate paperwork will come directly to us. Discuss your fence plans with your neighbours if you have not already done so.

Why does my pressure treated wood split and crack?
This is a normal process for wood. Because pressure treated lumber has a certain amount of moisture in it, as it goes through various drying and saturation cycles cracks and splits do tend to appear. This does not affect the structural strength of the final product and adds to the natural look of the wood.

What are the terms of payment?
Down payments are required at the time the contract is signed and full payment is required at the completion of the project.

How long does it take to start and finish my project?
We will be able to give you a general start date at time of signing the contract. Many factors will affect the start date including weather, number of contracts in the schedule prior to yours and any difficulties we run into on prior projects. Depending on the size and scope of your project, it generally takes several days to complete. Ask your estimator for further details.
